Chickpeas are a type of legume that have been cultivated and consume for thousands of years particularly in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. We are proud to be growing these pulses on our farm and in the broader Rupanyup region. Since moving to Rupanyup, growing and cook with Chickpeas has brought great connections, and conversation around the table. Chickpeas are high in protein, a great source of plant based protein making them an excellent choice for vegetarians and vegans. Chickpeas are incredibly versatile and can be used in various dishes such as salads hummus, curries, soups and stews adding texture and nutrition. Roasted chickpeas with added spices are great for crunchy snack. Soak over night in water, add Chickpeas to a saucepan and add fresh water just above the chickpeas. Cook for 30 minutes until tender drain and they are ready add to your recipes. You can also freeze to add into your dishes when required.
